I had been working for my friend's company (Ajee) which is making & selling jute products by Fare trade with Bangladesh to make a Jute tote bag with silkscreen print from this January.
It was a very long process because she has to ask for samples that are made in Bangladesh in every process to think about what can work, then it was something wrong every time, and had to send them back with new ideas, but it came with wrong idea again, or we found some new problems....

"Fare trade" is such a wonderful business with lots of dreams and possibilities, but in the same time, it seems it needs lots of patients....I admire my friend Etsuko Ozawa. She is a tough lady who used to live in Bangladesh for volunteering long time ago, and she started this business by herself after she came back to Japan.

We had countless meetings to talk about all the details include the inside fabric (we decided to use all different kinds of Bangladeshi saris for inside), pockets, etc etc..
and finally they are on the market! Yepee!!

(How great! The model with the bag for the website is my friend DIANA! She became officially famous in Japan now!)

バングラディッシュとのフェアトレードをしていらっしゃる
お友達の小沢さんと一緒に、１月からずっとフェアトレードエコバッグの
制作に取り組んで参りましたが、いよいよめでたく発売されました！（わーい♪）
ジュートの生地に私の描いた絵をシルクスクリーンプリントするという
新しい試み。
そして試作品に試作品を重ねてなんどもふたりで頭を抱え、
バングラデッシュの伝統サリーを内布にしてみたり
ふちを付けるとか付けないとか。。
そしてバングラディッシュとのフェアトレードなので、
なかなか現地で作って送られてきたものとこちらの欲しいものと
ずれが生じることが多く、小沢さんも大変苦労されて何度も国際的なやりとりを
繰り返されていました。
途上国とのフェアトレードとは、本当に可能性と夢の溢れる、素晴らしいお仕事ですが、
大変な根気と体力のいるお仕事だなぁと実感。
タフで情熱的で、真面目にいいものを作り出そうと
熱心に努力されてる素敵な女性、小沢さん、、尊敬致します！

そしていよいよ発売になったジュートバッグです。
私もひとつ使わせていただいておりますが、
とても大きくてざっくりと、、使いやすい。
何より私もたくさん関わることができたので
愛着が湧いて愛おしいバッグになりました。
そしてなんと撮影のモデルは、こないだまでうちに居たNYの友人のダイアナ！
